Otto Scharmer has clarified the importance of islands of coherence and the CCA is already such a beautiful one. As a nested system, CCoP holds a particular intention within the CCA.

Come join us for our next Compassion Community of Practice 3.30-5pm (BST) on 28th May where our collective practice is simple:

-Deepening presence through guided compassion practice
-Compassionate listening to support attunement to one another and the field
-Deepening resonance and coherence as a source of nourishment, wellbeing and flow

As highlighted on the CCoP webpage, the purpose of the Compassion Special Interest Pod is to provide a secular Compassion Community of Practice (CCoP) as a way of co-regulating and processing the various emotions that arise within the Ecological Awareness Cycle. The CCoP serves as both an antidote to empathic distress fatigue and climate-related burnout in the coach, and their clients in turn, and also develops qualities beneficial to the coaching relationship and better coaching outcomes.

Principles:

-Practice over theory
-Guided compassion practice as a foundation for compassionate dialogue
-Consistent format with changing themes
-Inclusive and accessible to all

Topics:

-Self-compassion
-Embracing shared common humanity
-Cultivating compassion for others
-Compassionate listening to self and others
-Why compassion practice?
-Cultivating qualities beneficial to the coaching relationship
-Compassion practice and better coaching outcomes
-Compassion practice as an antidote to empathic distress fatigue and climate-related burnout
-Coach maturity and vertical adult development
-The neuroscience of compassion

a CCA Collaboration panel discussion with the Inner Climate Response Alliance

Join us for this panel discussion and deep dive into the “inner work” for climate response with Harriet Ayliffe and Hannah Leigh Mackie (Inner Climate Response Alliance, “ICRA”) and Denise Pang (CCA representative of the Inner Development Goals “IDG” collaboration). Hosted by Alison Maitland and Stuart Pickles (coordinators of CCA’s external collaborations), this will be an opportunity to explore diverse approaches to “inner work” through the lens of ICRA and the IDGs, and learnings and insights about how to really bring this work to life at a broader communal and societal level.

Going beyond just solely individual approaches to inner work, this is a conversation about the relational, cultural, and social ways we cultivate inner capacities, nurture healthy relationships with ourselves, each other, and the more-than-human world, and resource ourselves to stay present, connected and engaged amidst the polycrisis. The panel members will share their experiences and perspectives on inner work, both personally and collectively in community. They will also reflect on the importance and impact of this work, while exploring the challenges and possibilities involved in bringing it more fully in our communities.

We will also invite participants into small break out groups to explore these themes further, and to explore their own relationship their inner work and how they are enabling this in others – individuals, groups, and communities.

Everyone is welcome, and we particularly hope that those who are engaged in any of this kind of inner work will come and share their experiences, wisdom and perspectives.

Te mikor voltál utoljára a természetben?

To celebrate Earth Day, the Deep Time Walk Project is arranging a global wave of Deep Time Walks for that week.

In collaboration with the ‘coaching in and with Nature Pod, this powerful embodied experience takes participants on an 4.6km walk through 4.6 billion years of Earth history – exploring the place of the human in the more-than-human world.

Join us in a transformational journey bringing the rational and somatic together. It is an invitation to view the world differently, encouraging positive action and advocacy for a regenerative earth and helps put into context humanity’s rich heritage. This experience gives an insight into the interconnectedness of all life and a sense of timefulness through an immersive walk in nature

We are walking 4.6km in the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens in Scotland, where the diverse plants, trees and water features give their gifts and expression to understand Earth’s story. There will also be mindfulness and nature practices throughout the walk to connect deeply with nature and understand our relationship and appreciation for the long arc of deep time and the impact humans have had in such a short part of that time.

This walk is in collaboration with Drylaw walking group from Drylaw Community Centre in North Edinburgh, a community centre supporting local people through social, cultural, economic and environmental events and sessions.

The walk is free to join and all are welcome with routes that are physically accessible throughout!

We are meeting at 10am at the East gate in Inverleith Road. Please let Hazel know if you are joining so we don’t leave without you.

_____________________________________________________________________

If you value the work the CCA is doing, please help us fund the road ahead.

It was originally developed by inspirational eco-philosopher Joanna Macy in the late 1970s for activists, bringing together aspects of deep ecology, systems theory and Buddhism.

The Work is structured around the Spiral Journey, a framework that invites participants to explore their lived experience with honesty and care—acknowledging both gratitude and pain—while developing new perspectives and a deeper sense of connection. Rather than relying on passive optimism, Active Hope reframes hope as a practice: something we do, individually and collectively, through values-led choices and courageous conversations.

In this SCC Roundtable session, we invite you to experience WtR with a view to drawing on it as a framework, insight and set of resources you can use in your own client coaching work. It will also deepen our individual and collective capacity to work with climate related emotions, complexity and uncertainty, and strengthen our ability to journey together as a collaborative in these uncertain times.”
