Coaching can be solitary work. Meanwhile, organizations working for the common good often spend too much time hunting for the support they need. What becomes possible when coaches join forces? More and more coaches are discovering that a collective can be greater than the sum of its parts, offering shared expertise, new consulting opportunities and support for each other’s individual work.

This month, we’ll hear from coaches building collectives in two different ways. Rhiannon Gallagher is a co-founder of Mutualocity, a member-owned cooperative in Colorado. It connects experienced coaches and consultants with the organizations that need them, through a model built on collective ownership, mutual accountability and profit-sharing. Kristi Harrison helps lead the Climate Coaching Collective. Formed by a group of CCA members who became colleagues and friends through CCA and now support each other’s work while pursuing consulting opportunities as a team. Other members of the collective will also be in attendance and may share some of their experiences as time allows.

As Kristi puts it, “Working relationally makes this work both more enjoyable and more effective through the power of synergies and multiple perspectives.”

We’ll open with a grounding and connecting activity and a few CCA updates. Then Tamara Staton, collective member, will moderate the panel, which will explore how these groups came together, how they work, what’s been hard, and what the panelists would recommend to anyone hoping to start or join a collective. There will be time for your questions and group discussion. We’ll close with a look ahead to our November and December meetings.

This framework is also referenced in Chapter 7 of the book that is guiding this Peer Coaching Series: Ecological and Climate Conscious Coaching.

For this particular session, we will use a slightly different format than usual, to allow a proper introduction to Deep Adaptation and the ‘6R Framework’. Therefore, we will have a breakout discussion, rather than peer coaching.

How do we cultivate the conditions that allow meaningful change to emerge in times of profound uncertainty and turbulence?

The Climate Coaching Alliance USA invites you to a conversation inspired by the recent work of Otto Scharmer, exploring ideas from his latest book and his recent conversations with the Mind & Life Institute and the Commonwealth Club World Affairs. Together, we will explore questions such as:

• What brings us to systems change work, and why does it matter to us?
• What resonated most strongly for us in Otto’s recent thinking?
• What does it mean to cultivate the “social soil” in which new possibilities for change can take root?
• How might the seven social soil practices help us in our work as coaches, facilitators, and change makers?
• What are “islands of coherence,” and how might they help us navigate turbulent systems and create conditions for transformation?
• How might these ideas connect with what we are already practicing in our own work and communities?

This will be a participatory conversation, with opportunities for personal reflection, small-group sharing, and collective exploration. We will draw on our own experiences as much as on Otto’s ideas, asking what these concepts might mean in practice for those of us working toward systemic and societal change.

Preparation
To make the most of our time together, we ask participants to engage with at least one of the following before the session:
1. Read Otto Scharmer’s latest book, Presencing- 7 PRACTICES FOR TRANSFORMING SELF, SOCIETY, AND BUSINESS; or
2. Listen to Otto Scharmer’s conversation with the Mind & Life Institute from 2025; or
3. Listen to his conversation with the Commonwealth Club World Affairs from April 27, 2026.

You do not need to be an expert in Theory U or Otto Scharmer’s work.
Come with your curiosity, your experience, and your questions.

The theme for July is learning from each other with compassion.

It is open to all those coaching in the political arena, be it local, national or global, who would like support with any of the dilemmas they are facing. Our July session gives you the opportunity to explore issues you are facing in a safe and constructive space, working with your peers to help you stretch beyond your current thinking. Two coaches will have 30 mins each to be coached. If there are more than two people wanting to be coached, we have the option of breakout groups.

We are all there to share and challenge with compassion. This session is not being recorded for confidentiality. Our joint lessons from this process and any key takeaways can be shared in our next Political Pod newsletter. Peer-coaches will be those who attend the session. The Political Pod is attended by experienced and empathetic coaches all of whom care deeply about the state of our planet and are aware of the power dynamics at play locally and globally.

Join us in presence and attunement for this 75-minute session including a guided compassion practice and deep listening/sharing circle, facilitated by Heather Monro and Mark McMordie.

The purpose of the Compassion Special Interest Pod is to provide a secular Compassion Community of Practice (CCoP) as a way of co-regulating and processing difficult emotions that arise within the Ecological Awareness Cycle. The CCoP serves as both an antidote to empathic distress fatigue and climate-related burnout in the coach, and their clients in turn, and also develops qualities beneficial to the coaching relationship and better coaching outcomes.

Across African cultures, eclipses have long been perceived as moments when normal order is suspended – times of prophecy, recalibration and deep listening. In this spirit, our online gathering will explore how climate coaches are called to work with polarities and paradoxes in an age when inherited paradigms dominate.

Whether juxtaposing ancient wisdom and cutting-edge technologies, individual agency and collective responsibility, hope and grief, masculine and feminine – climate coaching increasingly requires the capacity to hold complexity without collapsing into simplistic narratives or false solutions.

This session invites coaches into a reflective and relational space to explore how we can move beyond “either/or” thinking and cultivate a “both/and” approach that honours multiple truths, diverse worldviews and the deep interdependence of people, planet and future generations.

The reality is neither. Whether we’re coaching from nature or perturbing the hierarchy, the predator is a great analogy. It lives deep inside the ecology, essential to it and reliant on it,  shaping and being shaped by everything around it.

Sense a little deeper and you’ll be getting close to the Peak Experiences Maslow researched and what his Grandson subsequently shared. Where false polarities soften, time loosens into presence and the world reveals itself as meaningful and beautiful.

Those are some of the realities that let 147 governments and the UN endorse “spiritually reconnecting humans and nature”.  They are experiences we can curate and coach from too — restoring creativity, easing stress, and deepening our presence.

Come along and try reconfiguring the hierarchy in meditation, and through a peak nature experience, travel with and as the dragonfly through time.
