Coaching in action workshop with UK Green Party politicians
How to collaborate and soften the ways of working in an increasingly polarised and confrontational political environment
This workshop will provide coaching support for two UK local politicians. Similar to a peer-coaching session, the politicians will explain the challenges they are facing. You will be given a chance to ask questions in support of the issues the politicians are facing.
As fairly new politicians, Georgia Taylor and Christina Coleman are trying to change the way local politics is done, but often don’t understand or agree with the rules, and the prevailing culture. Christina will explain what happened when she was Chair of Wealden District Council. Georgia will speak about her experience of working with cross-party women councillors, to encourage an increase in feminine leadership in the council.
Outcome of workshop – the politicians and the coaches/mediators/facilitators in the session will have enhanced awareness of each other’s needs and skills to offer further collaboration not just in the UK but in other cultural and political contexts.
Questions might include: What mindset do local politicians currently have, where are the stumbling blocks? How can coaching approaches unblock some of the challenges faced by local government politicians to enable them to work better together across parties?

Presenter(s) Bio
Georgia Taylor – an active local politician in East Sussex (UK); County Councillor for the Green Party, representing the Forest Row and Groombridge Division since 2021. Deputy Leader of the Green Party Group on the Council. With a background in international development, women’s health and human rights, Georgia has worked in central government (DFID), private sector and civil society.
On East Sussex County Council Georgia is on the Pension Committee and strongly advocates for divestment from fossil fuel assets. She is also on the Audit Committee, using this position to integrate climate action across the council activities and finances.
Christina Coleman is the Green Party MP candidate for the new constituency of East Grinstead & Uckfield in the forthcoming General Election. Christina was elected Councillor for Danehill & Fletching ward on Wealden District Council in May 2023. She was appointed Chair of Council by the Green-LibDem Alliance for Wealden, which took over administration of the council following the election. Christina stood down as chair in January 2024 to begin campaigning in the forthcoming General Election as the Green MP candidate for the new constituency of East Grinstead and Uckfield.
With a background in advertising, fundraising and teaching, Christina is a passionate advocate for action on climate change and protection of nature. She has a Master’s Degree from the University of Sussex in Environment, Development and Policy – and has been an independent advisor to government on sustainable housing policy. She says she is “determined to do all I can to protect this irreplaceable part of the country for future generations – I want to build a greener, fairer, kinder future”.
