Learning to Reconnect Playshop
This isn’t a workshop to try and fix the world. It is a space to play with the serious and find some clarity of what you can do amidst the heartbreak of the world.
We are living in uncertain times.
Everywhere you turn, there is evidence of crises in our societies across the world: armed conflicts, climate change, poverty, systemic racism, mass species extinctions, and the collapse of familiar institutions and support structures. It can be hard to know what to do, or where to start, when faced with this immense suffering.
This playshop is designed for you to have space, to slow down, to feel into the discomforts that are lurking to be ‘dealt with later’. We call it a playshop, not to be dismissive of the seriousness of what we are collectively facing, but in recognition that joy is essential. By introducing some playfulness, it can lighten your load to better see a path forward.
Meditation and mindfulness is weaved throughout this experiential workshop we invite you through a process* that will use small group discussion, creative activities and reflection to:
- Welcome the complex emotions that are alive for you, staying curious as to what these emotions are telling you about who you are and the role you have to play
- Support you to feel less alone with the anxieties and stresses of present-day life, taking time to recognise the radical interconnectedness of all life on Earth
- Resource you to build resilience, to take your next steps with clarity and courage.
Learning to be with uncertainty, is a practise. Not a one and done activity, which is why we host these sessions regularly throughout the year. Sign up to our Substack to stay up to date on when the next free session will run.
*The process we use is ‘The Spiral’ of The Work That Reconnects, a body of work created by deep ecologist, activist and beloved elder, Joanna Macy and refined over 40 years of practise.
PREPARATION: To ensure you can enjoy the workshop, please wear comfortable clothing and set yourself up in a comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Make sure you have any drinks or snacks handy, to keep you fuelled for the session. For those that are inclined, you may want some tissues nearby. We will give space for a 20 min break part way through.
QUESTIONS: For any further questions or concerns, please get in touch with Samantha and Scott at wearelearningtoreconnect@gmail.com. You can read more about our own exploration into Work That Reconnects on our substack.

About Samantha
Samantha is a keen wild swimmer, lover of all things wolf-related, and currently located near Ascot in the UK. Her work is focussed on how to (re) connect people to their inner worlds, their communities and to nature; using this connection as a drive for tangible ‘outer world’ change. Scott is a freelance coach and facilitator, whose mission is to support people to realise their full potential in service of our collective flourishing.
