Screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing film on the Climate and Nature Crisis

20 20 people viewed this event.

In collaboration with the UK’s National Emergency Briefing campaign and the Climate Psychology Alliance, CCA is hosting this special screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing film.

During a gruelling northern hemisphere summer of record-breaking heat, massive wildfires and thousands of excess deaths of people and wildlife, this film has been rapidly gaining ground in communities across the UK. Presenting expert briefings on the stark impacts of the crisis on the economy, health and society, the film is interspersed with reactions from both ‘ordinary’ people and celebrities.

The campaign, which is attracting attention from many other countries, calls for a national televised emergency briefing to inform citizens of the gravity of the crisis and build public support for a wartime-scale response.

While screenings are generally in-person events, the National Emergency Briefing team have agreed to CCA hosting this 50-minute online screening to reach our international membership. Co-facilitated by Alison Maitland and Jo Peters, there will be a before-and-after survey, time to reflect together on the film’s messages, and the opportunity to consider what action you will take in response in your work, community and beyond.

To encourage a safe space for this in-depth experience, the event will be capped at 30 people. Register soon! We hope participants will use this as a pilot and be inspired to host the film in their own communities, workplaces and CCA pods so the impact ripples outwards. The film is available with subtitles in other languages.

We’d like to give special thanks to Linda Aspey of CCA and the Climate Psychology Alliance for her fantastic work as Director of Psychology at the NEB and for her encouragement to host this film screening for CCA members.
