Changing Mindsets for Environmental Change using Imagery Coaching
Imagine it’s the year 2031 and nothing has changed – we haven’t hit our carbon neutral targets. You thought about recycling/replacing lightbulbs/minimising the use of fossil fuels/reducing food waste, but never really got around to committing. And here you are… This imagery experience will be very different for everyone. While some will be motivated to change to avoid this possibility, many are ambivalent to change. This session will examine mindset, specifically your beliefs about change, then introduce how imagery coaching can have a significant impact on how you perceive, plan and practice change. Using real-life examples during empirical research and in our consultancy work with organisations and policy makers, this session focuses on introducing a new imagery model called Applied Imagery for Motivation, delving into ”How we Change Mindsets”. Our aim is to engage with coaches who operate within the climate change arena, to rethink, refine and reimagine lasting and meaningful change.

Jonathan Rhodes Dr Jonathan Rhodes is the co-founder of Imagery CoachingTM, an international consultancy and training program built upon 20 years of rigorous research in motivation and sustainable change. Jonathan works as a performance psychologist for multiple Olympic athletes, with large businesses like KPMG, with the British Army developing their resilience training program, and with organisations aiming to become carbon neutral. Jonathan is also an associate lecturer at the University of Plymouth, has published multiple papers in peer reviewed journals, and is a developer of an innovate behaviour change approach called Functional Imagery Training.
