Climate and Gender
Gender and Climate
It’s well understood that globally some genders are already being radically more affected by climate change than some others. How we define them and what differences climate policies include, will be a starting point of our conversation.
It’s not only because they will face increasingly severe threats to their health, livelihood and safety as climate change worsens. Climate policy responses themselves can have unintended negative gendered impacts when they do not take this context into account.
Barriers to participation of women and other groups affected by inequalities and discrimination need to be recognised in our daily practices, and then removed to ensure everyone can fully contribute to climate actions.
But how do we achieve this in a world where patriarchy is reversing hard-won gender rights?
Join our Political Pod session on 13 November 2025 at 08.30GMT to 10.00GMT
The session will be led by Katarzyna Schubert-Panecka and Csilla Sztarinka. Katarzyna will give a short background talk and together with Csilla invite everyone to consider how gender and climate correlate, and how climate-aware coaches can help policymakers and change agents.
How does the current tension between the narratives influence pro-climate policies and actions?
Are we as coaches sufficiently aware of how embedded patriarchal attitudes can distract us and our clients from the barriers hindering activism?
Katarzyna’s and Csilla’ cross cultural experiences can help participants see how to work more effectively with our clients to act for a more sustainable world in increasingly negative post-truth and patriarchal environments.
Learn quick, evidence‑based tools to embed gender insight into climate strategies—enhance equity, credibility, and results.

Presenter(s) Bio
Dr Katarzyna Schubert-Panecka: Katarzyna is an experienced international Business and Environmental Mediator (DACH | KNE) | (internationally certified) Mediator, Mediation Trainer and Supervisor (DACH), Executive, Climate and Team Coach (ICF | EMCC) | university teacher and mediation researcher regarding cross cultural understanding and cooperation.
Katarzyna says about her: „I was born to mediate” as a fellow mediator made me clear about this many years ago. Consequently and since 2008 I’ve been working as described. Apart from that I’m a co-founder and chairwoman of the Researcher Group for Mediation, the same in the International Network of Elder Mediation, and member of the editor’s board of the journal “Perspektive Mediation”. The Climate Coach Alliance is another great community in which I hope to support others in the field. Not only because I’m passionate about nature and climate, but because I see the necessity to adjust our way of thinking and behaving to the current challenges. Climate business coaching enables leaders and their organisations to become more congruent in their leadership, their business strategy and in their impact on a sustainable business culture beyond legal requirements. In all these roles I love to work with leaders and teams who are willing to personally develop, to really make time for this and do it long term and sustainable. Executives and leaders, change makers, who take whatever it takes to change, willing to leave their comfort zone and take a fresh perspective and widen your horizon, appreciative honesty, people who want to look on a macro level, taking a broad systemic perspective have the most fun while working with me.
Csilla Sztarinka – Regenerative Business Coach & Nature Facilitator: Csilla is an experienced sustainability professional and climate coach with a decade-long leadership background in the waste management sector, where she served as Managing Director and Country Manager. In these roles, she facilitated successful collaborations between private companies and governmental bodies, supporting numerous environmental initiatives in partnership with various ministries. Her work helped businesses integrate eco-conscious strategies into their operations, balancing profitability with environmental responsibility.
Since 2021, Csilla has been working as a professional coach, and since 2023, she has focused on climate coaching. Her mission is to support individuals and groups in becoming more conscious, connected, and purposeful in their lives and work. Drawing on deep listening, creativity, intuition, and the wisdom of nature, she guides meaningful personal and collective transformation.
Based in Italy and active internationally—especially in Hungary—she is also an organiser within the Climate Coaching Alliance, contributing to global efforts for climate-conscious leadership and change."
