Mother Nature in the Board Room – Agency and Consciousness

222 222 people viewed this event.

Chris will show the short video, Mother Nature in the Board Room, and then explore the journey to higher levels of consciousness as an essential component of leadership in the world of climate change. The work will be based inter alia on learnings from the movie, My Octopus Teacher.

The session is aimed at coaches and leaders who are deeply engaged in climate change and how they can effect meaningful action in an increasingly complex world.

The session will discuss building leadership capability in shifting individual and organisational approaches towards biodiversity loss and climate change.

The discussion will centre on building higher levels of consciousness (six stages) and systemic thinking, as well as leveraging “agency” at both individual and group leadership levels.

By “agency”, we mean our power to drive change and influence.

We will also discuss a messaging architecture that empowers our “agency” to drive change.

Chris draws on his personal experience in conservation and environmental studies over 25 years, team leadership, leadership development (both academic and practical), leadership assessment, executive coaching, Board assessments and Executive and Board Director appointments. He weaves into his exploration of consciousness Ellen Goldman’s work in strategic thinking, Elliott Jaques and Gillian Stamps’s theories used in CPA assessments, the work of David Bohm and Jan Smuts, and his own theory of Holism. The session is an exploration of the need for deeper nature connection by leaders and the need to embrace nature as the biggest shareholder of any business or organisation.

Chris’s book “Future Purpose” covers these themes in greater detail.
