A focus on North America and ICF Converge

This is an interactive end of year reflection open to all CCA members.  Politically, 2025 has been a turbulent year, especially in North America. We will be exploring together:

1. What has changed in the context of North America (and globally) in 2025?
2. Where are the leverage points now, and what capabilities does the coaching profession need now?

3. What is the “vibe” from the ICF conference?

The potential ripple effects of this session –  a) knowledge and evidence to the CCA community, b) post-ICF conference feedback and c) input to the Sustainability Coaching Coalition about the context of North America for coaching and coach training.

Cate Sabatini & Laura Wolfe are qualified ICF-Climate Biodiversity Coaches and form part of the CCA and the Habitable Future Community. What is the context for their work in the US, and what is needed now?

Kat Haber & Fran Smith presented “Breaking New Ground: Exploring the Landscape of Climate Coaching?”  to the Global ICF Converge conference (held in San Diego in October 2025).  This included a survey of 229 coaches before the conference, including many members of the CCA.

What to bring with you: your full humanity and your insights,

Presenter(s) Bio

Lydia Stevens  climate biodiversity coach and facilitator for this meeting. She co-designed the ICF-accredited Climate Biodiversity Coaching Course and is an active member of the CCA and part of the coordinating team of the CCA Political Pod.

Cate Sabatini is a leadership coach and facilitator living in Texas. She recently published an article in Choice Magazine called Avocado Toast & Climate Hope. She believes that restoring our earth to healthy and sustainable levels is one of the greatest challenges of our time. It will require leadership from all levels and all industries which is the focus of her leadership coaching. "To contribute my best as a coach to leaders who aspire to contribute their best to the challenges they, their organizations, and the world face at this time". She completed the ICF Climate Biodiversity Coaching Course in 2023. "Taking the Climate Biodiversity course transformed my sense of agency, giving me the confidence, tools, and identity to step into climate coaching and respond meaningfully to burnout in sustainability professionals".

Laura Wolfe is a professional coach living in Louisiana supporting the evolution of careers, leaders, & climate consciousness via powerful questions and tools that allow people to better diagnose and analyze frustrating and stressful challenges, grow in the process, and effectively deal with change. "I truly believe in #coachingforabetterworld".  Laura and Lydia were hosted by ICF Gulf Coast to discuss Climate Biodiversity Coaching in 2024.  She completed the ICF Climate Biodiversity Coaching Course in 2023 and stated her biggest learning shift as "discovering climate coaching exists and many incredible people are doing this work which contributes to climate and/or biodiversity by increasing awareness and supporting those who are working to change behaviors to save the planet".

Kat Haber is a pioneering climate leadership coach who discovered her calling as one of 150 women in the United States Air Force Academy's second female class. Her military training in facing uncomfortable truths and taking decisive action now drives her climate work. Living in Alaska with the retreating Grewingk Glacier outside her window—losing 98 feet annually—transformed her from observer to activator. As a certified Climate Coach and international research collaborator, Kat pioneers methods for integrating climate change into coaching practices. She embodies transformation by currently driving 13,444 miles in an EV to demonstrate range management, covering four times the distance of her cross-country climate march eleven years ago in one-third the time. Combining her experience coaching TEDx speakers with military-grade systems thinking, Kat activates executives and business owners in online leadership labs, helping them recognize climate change as their greatest leadership and business opportunity rather than someone else's problem.
