Funding The Road Ahead

Background

The Climate Coaching Alliance (CCA) was founded in 2019 by Eve Turner, Josie McLean and Alison Whybrow (who, sadly, is no longer with us).  It was formed as (and still is) a “movement” without legal or financial status, free to all, and operating on the principles of “living systems”.   Initially our activity focused on “annual festivals of events”, in service to the mission of building the confidence and capability of coaches in accelerating climate action.

The CCA founders published a book – “Ecological and Climate Conscious Coaching” – and were influential in publishing the joint statement of professional bodies (the Joint Global Statement Group – JGSG), explicitly stating “the significant role (coaching) plays in fostering new ways of being in service to a healthy human society and healthy planet”.

In 2023, leadership of the CCA transitioned to a new Global Coordination Pod of 8 people who have overseen the significant expansion in both our reach and in the way we interact with our members.

CCA membership stands at nearly 4,000 drawn from over 70 countries across the globe – check out the CCA World Map. We support over 35 thriving community focused pods – from geographical and language-based units to special interest groups. And an evolving global program of events under the banner “Seasonal Heartbeats” now operates throughout the year.

All this activity is organised and delivered by volunteers, pro-bono, and to date any costs have been met internally.  However, these continue to grow as we expand the contributions the CCA is making. As such, a more sustainable funding model is required.

For now, our primary costs relate to maintaining active communication channels (eg Mailchimp databases and regular newsletters), a Zoom platform for large events, Vimeo for hosting a quickly expanding video resource library, and website hosting and development. Currently we’re spending around GBP2,500 annually.

An Invitation to Donate

We’ve formed a “fiscal hosting” arrangement with The Social Change Nest. This allows us to receive donations via their platform and, for transparency, to publish details of the costs these donations are covering.

Are you able to support the work of the CCA?
All contributions, no matter how modest, will be gratefully accepted.

As and when funding allows, we’ll review ways we can invest in other aspects of the CCA as we continue to scale our impact.

[Note: Payments are in GBP but anyone in the world can donate from a credit card in their own currency. An exchange rate will apply plus a fee. Tax deductions can be made for payments in the UK only. This platform provides public transparency of all our income and expenditure.]

Thanks for your support!!

Terms and Conditions

Posting an Event

Privacy: Maintaining the integrity of the CCA is very important to us and, as such, we fully support and comply with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation and similar legislation operating around the world, particularly in terms of the privacy of those who interact on our platform and in our events.

Content: Your event must cover topics related to environmental, social, or economic responsibility and justice. Events may focus on local or global issues and a significant proportion, if not all of the content must provide learning opportunities and stated outcomes for participants. While references to promotional elements can be included, an event that is solely or significantly for the purpose of promoting products or services will not be approved for listing on this site.

Recordings: While you are free to record the event you must select Yes to the question in the event registration form “Is this event being recorded?“. If the decision to record the event is taken after your event has been approved and posted, you must advise all participants at the beginning of your event that it is being recorded. Further, whether or not you record the event yourself as the host and in keeping with restrictions the CCA applies to all those who register to attend your event, you must take reasonable measures to ensure that participants do not record your event, either directly or using any other means including agents and bots. This could be as simple as a declaration at the beginning of your event that unauthorised recordings are not permitted.

Promotion by CCA: Subject to the above, your event will be promoted by CCA in good faith and on the clear understanding that you will not use any information you collect from participants at your events (including those who register but do not attend) for the purposes of follow-up or other marketing unless you have first obtained that person’s express permission to do so. Unsolicited communications of any sort may be reported to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
